4X Pods Review: The Strongest Pods You Can Get

Intro

4X Pods are JUUL pod alternatives that are compatible with the JUUL battery. Their selling point is that they have the highest levels of nicotine salt available. They offer 6%, which is already higher than the original 5% pods. They also have 6.5% and 6.8% strength options, making them ideal for people who are looking for that extra nicotine hit.

4X Pods come in about a dozen flavors and are cheaper than the original. They also hold 1 mL of e-juice, which is standard for most aftermarket pods. Unlike most of the pods I have tried, 4X Pods have the classic "V" shape, a throwback to the early JUUL days.

4X Pods flavors

Kiwi Strawberry: Although I'm not a big fan of Kiwi Strawberry, this flavor was probably one of the most accurate to the description. It isn't very natural-tasting, but it has a pleasant strawberry flavor and the kiwi adds a bit of tartness. It happens to be my favorite flavor from the line. If you like strawberry and kiwi, you're probably going to like it.

Blue Raspberry: This was one of the few decent flavors from the line. It kind of has the candy blue razz taste that I expected, but it isn't sour or terribly sweet. I've tried other blue razz pods that weren't as good, so this would be a good choice if you really want a blue raspberry flavored pod. It has a pretty nice tartness and candy-like taste. It’s one of the better blue razz pods that I’ve had for the JUUL, and one of the best 4X Pods.

Mango Peach Pineapple: In theory, this sounds like it would be a good flavor. Unfortunately, it was pretty bad. I'm not a big fan of the flavors used, the mango reminds me of the disposable Mango STIG, which I don't like. It just has a weird taste that reminds me of mold. You can take your chances on this one, but I'm not feeling it.

Strawberry Sour Belt: I love sour e-liquid flavors, but there aren't as many good ones out there as you'd expect. This flavor has the same pleasant strawberry flavor from their Kiwi Strawberry pod. It's not a fresh strawberry, but you'll recognize the taste right away. Instead of kiwi, it's blended together with a sour candy flavor. It's not that sour to me, but it does have that gummy taste. It was my second favorite flavor from the entire line.

Sour Gummy: This was a big letdown. I was hoping for this one to taste like sour gummy worms or candy, but it just tasted terrible. I don't know what they were thinking—I'm not going to rant about how bad it tastes, but I do not recommend this 4X Pod flavor! It doesn't taste anything like sour candy—I'm not even sure what it's supposed to taste like.

Blue Blackberry: I don’t even know what a blue blackberry is. In any case, this flavor wasn't one of my favorites, but it was interesting. I feel like it has a touch of cooling agent which is pretty random for a fruit flavor. It might be worth trying if you're into berry e-liquids with a slight hint of ice, but it's not for me.

Raspberry Mint Lemonade: Another strange tasting pod. It wasn't so terrible, but it's a pretty weird combination of flavors. It has a unique flavor that I suppose some people might like. I taste the lemonade combined with raspberry and blended with mint. There is a lot of contrast between these flavors, I wonder who thought that was a good idea.

Grape: I don't know what's going on with this flavor. Same as Blue Blackberry, it doesn't say anything about ice on the package, but it has some kind of cooling effect going on. It's trying to taste like a cold glass of concord grape juice, but it fails. I’ll vape it, but it's not something I would go out and buy. I tend to prefer the grape flavor from Ziip Pods a lot more than this one.

Peach: I have yet to try a good peach pod flavor. For some reason, they all have this strange mildew taste that I really don't like. The Peach 4X Pods are not much better. It's actually hard for me to vape these pods, I’m going to give them away to a “lucky” friend. I do not recommend them! If you want a tangy fruit flavor, go with the strawberry ones.

How do 4X Pods work?

4X Pods pop right into the JUUL without any issues. They have your typical rounded mouthpiece, which actually feels pretty comfortable on the lips. I didn't experience any leaking with the pods over the few days that I was vaping them. The performance was acceptable for an off-brand pod, but not quite as good as the original pods for the JUUL.

If you're more concerned with nicotine strength than flavor, they are a decent choice. The throat hit isn't very harsh but you definitely feel a rush of nicotine, especially with the 6.8% nic pods! 4X Pods also offers refillable 0.7 mL replacement pods for liquids and CBD vape oils, their own JUUL battery replacement, and a few e-liquids in 30 mL bottles.

Verdict

The pods performed well compared to other aftermarket pods I've tried. However, more than half of the flavors I tried weren't to my liking. Blue Raspberry, Sour Strawberry Belt Grape and Kiwi Strawberry were the only ones I liked, but even these were just okay—they're nothing I would run out and buy again anytime soon.

If you're looking for the highest strength pods possible, then 4X Pods are an option. When it comes to flavor, I would recommend Ziip Pods or SEApods instead. The 4X flavor options are pretty lackluster, but at least you are getting the most nic for your buck.
