Product intro and specs

The Fero is the latest pod vape by Suorin. The Fero features adjustable wattage from 5-25 watts and is designed to satisfy MTL vapers, whether you like a tight or loose draw. It is built on a 1000 mAh battery, coming with two 3 mL refillable pods (0.6 ohm and 0.8 ohm) that house Suorin’s new and improved mesh coils, which are said to provide better flavor than their previous products. The Fero also has an OLED screen, adjustable airflow, a puff counter, and a light display with several selectable options.

The Suorin website has a slogan on the Fero page that says “for everyone.” Presumably, “Fero” is an acronym for that slogan. Regardless of what the name “Fero” means, what matters most is how it vapes. I was a huge fan of the Suorin Drop and the Suorin Air, so I’m eager to see how the Fero performs. Let’s get to it.

Build quality and design

The Suorin Fero is a slender pod vape in a rounded, rectangular shape. Its traditional stick design stands apart from Suorin's other products, like the Air and the Drop, which have more unique designs. This design is comparable to the VAPORESSO XROS and the OXVA Xlim lines. Constructed of aluminum alloy and PCTG, the Fero measures 113.7 mm x 25.5 mm x 14.4 mm and weighs just 50 grams, making it lightweight and ergonomic.

The Fero is available in five gradient colors, each displaying a subtle texture and pattern reminiscent of the classic SMOK Cobra design. The exterior is both matte and polished, offering a smooth, shiny surface that resists fingerprints.

The Fero features a centrally located 0.42-inch OLED screen, a side-mounted button, and a slide switch on the back for adjustable airflow. These elements are intuitively placed, making adjustments easy and convenient.

The only issues I have with the way the Fero is made have to do with the light show and the button. The button is small and clicky, but it gets easily pressed in my pocket. Luckily, you can deactivate the button and just use the device as an automatic draw vape (more on that in the following section). The other issue I have is with the light show. A color-changing light encircles the OLED screen when you take a puff. The colorful glow around the screen is nice to look at, and I’ve even played around with changing the colors, but somehow, there’s no option to turn the lights off. I would’ve preferred that to the ability to change the colors.

Getting started

Everything you need is included in the kit: an instruction manual, two empty pods, a USB-C cable, and a lanyard. There are a few functions to know before beginning:

  • 5x click to turn on the device
  • 3x click to adjust wattage (it round-robins)
  • (With the device turned on) 5x click to enter the menu

Once you enter the menu, you’ll see options for the lights, puff counter, button lock, and turning the device off. Although it’s just a single-button interface, I find it quite easy to get into the menu and change something if I have to.

When inside the menu, clicking the button scrolls between the options, and keeping it pressed registers a selection. Although you can adjust the wattage, it will be automatically set to the middle of its recommended range once you place the pod in.

  • 0.6-ohm pod: Recommended for 18-23 watts; best for a tight MTL
  • 0.8-ohm pod: Recommended for 12-18 watts; best for a loose MTL

After filling your pod, simply drop it into the device housing. The Fero pods are magnetized and held firmly in place. If you want to change the airflow, you can do so on the back of the device with the slider switch.

My one gripe is the button. Although it’s fine to use it as a fire button, it gets pressed easily in the pocket. I’m happy I can turn off the fire button, but it’s a little annoying that it fires so easily. I messed up a couple of coils because they were firing without me knowing.

Performance

The performance of the Fero is solid. It has a fantastic MTL draw up to a loose MTL, and the flavor is quite good for an MTL device. That said, I don’t look at this device as something a flavor chaser would be after. This is about the MTL draw and the throat hit (for me). That’s why I think this would be a good device for people looking to get themselves off cigarettes. I use mine with nic salts (currently, Suicide Bunny 50 mg/mL).

I haven’t had any issues with leaking, spitting, or popping. But I have had some issues with gurgling. The liquid I’m using is 60% VG, so that surprised me a little. For this to be an MTL device ideally used with a thinner juice, I wouldn’t expect gurgling issues. Granted, it’s not a constant thing, but it’s worth mentioning.

Of the two, my favorite is the 0.8-ohm pod. But I don’t get a totally different experience between them (there’s only a subtle difference in the performance). If there’s anything noticeably different between them for me, it’s that the tightest airflow setting works best with the 0.8-ohm pod. I tend to keep the 0.8-ohm pod between 10-12 watts and the 0.6-ohm pod at 16-18 watts.

Battery life and charging

Using the device at 10-12 watts, I can get about a day and a half of consistent usage before needing to charge. When it’s time to charge, just plug in the (included) USB-C cable to a power source and treat it like any other rechargeable device. It takes approximately one hour from a completely depleted battery to fully charged. The light show stays on when charging, along with a battery meter and percentage readout. When the charge is over, the screen goes off.

Pros / Cons

Pros
Manufactured well
Two included pods
Strong magnets hold pods in place
Adjustable airflow stays set (sturdy slider)
Menu can deactivate the fire button
Great MTL draw (up to a loose MTL)
Good flavor
Cons
Occasional gurgling
Button is easily activated in pocket
Can’t turn off the light show

Verdict

The Suorin Fero is a well-rounded MTL pod vape that I really enjoy using. The sleek design and user-friendly interface make it an easy choice when deciding what I want to leave the house with. With the adjustable wattage and airflow options, I can get the precise experience I want.

The flavor output is decent enough for an MTL device, and the new mesh coils work fine. The only issue I have with the vape performance is that I occasionally get gurgling. With the design, my issue is with the small button that gets easily activated when in the pocket. Luckily, that can be solved by turning off the button fire. Of course, if you prefer to use button fire, turn it off before you put it in your pocket or purse.

Overall, the Suorin Fero gets a recommendation, particularly for MTL vapers.
